Without a doubt, St. Louis is home to architectural gems, fascinating historic sites, and lively neighborhoods. Yet it’s easy to forget that so many of these places have long since disappeared—or come dangerously close to doing so. See significant landscapes, buildings, neighborhoods, and even an entire island that have disappeared from
St. Louis, and examine the factors that led to their demise. Then discover iconic St. Louis places that were nearly destroyed at one point in their lives, as well as some that have made successful returns. Andrew Wanko, Public Historian with the Missouri History Museum, will present this informative and engaging walk through St. Louis and its history.
