A man who loved athletic shoes died of an accidental drug overdose, Fox 2 reported, and his family, some from Richmond Heights, donated $13,000 worth of athletic shoes to students at a north St. Louis charter school in his honor.

John Holmes, died last October. He was a big fan of athletic shoes so the family used the funds to buy shoes for all of the students at St. Louis public charter school KIPP Inspire Academy.

A 40 South reader said the man’s sister, Ali Petersen, featured in the video, is a Richmond Heights resident. The video shows Peterson and other family members taking the new shoes to the classrooms and handing them out. See the Fox 2 video here.
