The final Tim Hortons vote is on the agenda for Tuesday’s Maplewood City Council meeting.

The proposal would allow the first Tim Hortons cafe/bake shop in the St. Louis area to be built near the corner of Manchester Road and Hazel Avenue.

Some residents of Hazel are opposed to the development, especially if the restaurant operates 24 hours a day, which Tim Hortons STL representative, Eric Sigurdson said at the previous meeting is ‘non-negotiable’.

City Manager Marty Corcoran told the council Tim Hortons isn’t interested if they can’t have 24-hour operation.

John Niehaus, who lives at 7461 Hazel Avenue, on the border of the proposed site, has told the council he doesn’t want the noise and exhaust that would come from a 24-hour drive through near his windows.

No public hearing is planned on for ordinance, but the usual public forum is scheduled before the vote.

Officials will also consider a dinner theater use for 7376 Manchester Road, the former Blind Tiger restaurant. Before that, Jumpin’ Jupiter and before that, Jive and Wail occupied the space.

Owner, Mike True, is planning a dinner theater every 60-90 days, and will operate as a restaurant, serving lunch and dinner, at other times.

  1. We tried to be resonable but TH has made no real concessions. We are expected to give up everything.

Any Maplewood City Council member who votes in favor of the TH proposal in its current form does not care about the residents of Maplewood. They would never replace the house next door to them with a 24hr drivethrough. Any member voting in favor is a hypocrite and needs to be voted out at the next election.

This is a public nuisance that no council person would accept next to their home. Just visit a drivethrough after the bars close.
