The corner of York and Middlesex in Brentwood’s York Village neighborhood saw clear cutting of a small forest of trees in January. In April a sinkhole several feet across opened up at the intersection.
Now, flood waters rush over the road and out the sink hole. Residents are blaming the lose of the trees, according to Fox 2 News.
“It’s ironic, it didn’t have a problem until they cleared the trees…I’ve been here now 12 years. We’ve never flooded, not even the simplest form of flood. Now, we get these downpours, it’s obvious what’s happening. We’re getting a dangerous situation across the street,” resident Kevin Bailey told Fox.
City officials have issued issued citations against the owner of the lot, Boris Bukhstaber, who faces fines of up to $500 per citation, an attorney for the city says. The neighborhood limits the number of houses, so a house can’t be built there.
Bukhstaber was due in court Monday night but the case was continued until next month.
He told Fox 2 he was in the process of working things out with the city but otherwise had no comment.

The trees are gone, the damage is done and will continue. I don’t know what “things have to be worked out”.
