The Maplewood Public Library posted this event on the 40 South News calendar:

A hundred years ago, people in St. Louis were concerned about many of the same things we are: war and peace, politics, and new ways that challenged and threatened old traditions and ideas of propriety.

The 1910s was the decade of the First World War. It was also a decade that took us from the corseted lady with a parasol to the flapper with a cigarette.

Jim Kirchherr, senior producer at the Nine Network (KETC), will discuss Decades: 1910-1920: What is the World Coming To?

It’s Thursday at the Maplewood Public Library from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
