The new showroom for Goebel & Company Furniture, at 7401 Manchester Road, gives a view of the intersection at Sutton Boulevard.
The hand-built furniture is made in St. Louis.
The building was formally (several years ago) the Monarch Restaurant. Developer David Schlafly bought and renovated the building. The Blue Duck opened in the building last year.
And more styrofoam plates and vinyl silverware!
Nice space. Good work, David Schlafly!
Another vacant building filled and they still complain. Like I said before, don’t like it. Buy it and put what you want there.
I think this business is great
Maplewood is really carving a niche with unique specialty businesses
Awesome idea, but I think there demographics are off.. just look at the prices on their website.. I wish them good luck.. this isn’t Holly wood.
I would guess much of their business is from places like Urban Chestnut who want original pieces that can hold up to a lot of public wear and tear. Having a store front just makes their name more well known. Plus there are plenty of high end stores in MW – tufts and batson, sideproject cellar, NHB knife works, etc. – that are arguably some of the best made in the US.
Ugh, another design studio? Don’t we have enough of those in Maplewood?
Enough to have a design studio tour a few years ago. I don’t know if they still have it.
You’re right. We need less creative minded people around here. More fried chicken only please.
Why not?
Yes, how about a Church’s Chicken?
