The owners of Home Wine Kitchen, in the 7300 block of Manchester Road, in Maplewood announced Saturday that the restaurant will close its doors after New Years Eve.
Owners, Chef Cassy Vires and husband, Josh Renbarger said even with the success they’ve had, the closing is out of their control. “It pains us deeply to make this announcement,” Vires states.

Below is the full announcement:
Chef Cassy Vires and husband Josh Renbarger are extremely disappointed to announce that Home Wine Kitchen will close for business after the first of the year. The last dinner service will be December 31st. This was a difficult decision, but after careful consideration, it has been decided to move forward with this decision now.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, the success of Home Wine Kitchen wasn’t enough to avoid this fate. Due to circumstances outside their control, the owners are forced to make the decision to shutter their successful restaurant operation.
“Home Wine Kitchen is our everything. This is our family. Our home. It pains us deeply to make this announcement,” says Vires. “As a company, we would like to take a moment to thank everyone who shared in this dream – our loyal customers, our families and friends and, most of all, our incredible staff. They are truly what made Home what it was.”
“We look forward to having a great last month,” says Renbarger. “Not everyone gets to go out on their own terms, so we are grateful for that.
Any chance that the tip pooling lawsuit is what’s causing them to close their doors?
How will this affect the tip pooling lawsuit that is scheduled to go to trial in January?
Dan: Monarch closed almost 2 1/2 years ago.
My guess is that Home Wine Kitchen had their rent raised a significant amount. If this is a trend, we could see other Maplewood businesses close.
I own the building where Home Wine Kitchen is located. Your “guess” is not true. When one doesn’t have first-hand knowledge of something (whether it be this situation or others), speculating serves no purpose, especially on a public forum like this.
Very sad news….
🙁 This is sad… Between Monarch and Home, Maplewood will have lost two great restaurants in a short time. Let’s just hope something remotely close to the quality and charm of Home moves in soon.
