The incoming manager for St. Mary Magdalen, Rebecca Goetz, is applying for a new liquor license for Immaculate Conception Parish Hall. Tuesday night at the city council meeting she said the license is necessary for the facility to continue leasing the space to various groups that bring in their own liquor for events such as trivia nights.
Goetz said the license has been in place previously, “forever,” and the revenue from the events is needed or the building will begin to deteriorate.
Rebecca Goetz, representing the Archdiocese of St. Louis, seeks a new liquor license for
Immaculate Conception Parish Hall. As the incoming managing officer for St. Mary Magdalen, Ms. Goetz must obtain a license in her name. The Immaculate Conception Parish Hall has held a City liquor license for many years, permitting malt liquor sales by the drink at events.
Part of the building is rented to various artists, and about six came to support the new license. Patty Nouraie told the council it makes sense, and that it wouldn’t change the community, as some have said.
No vote on the license was scheduled that night. Mayor Barry Greenberg said after the meeting that the hearing was held to give anyone a chance to express their opinion before it came before the council.
