James Walter Finger, a former mayor of Richmond Heights, passed away at age 93 on January 25, 2017, according to an obituary in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Jim lived his whole life in his beloved Richmond Heights, graduating from Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School and played the bugle in the band. After graduation he joined the army and toured Europe starting with landing on Utah Beach at 10:30 a.m. the morning of D-Day. He spent 29 days in a MASH unit after his landing craft was blown up heading back to his ship for more supplies. He rejoined his outfit for the rest of the war. Dad spent the majority of his life in the Insurance Industry, was a 2 term Councilman and was elected Mayor of Richmond Heights. He also was a Deputy Sheriff for St. Louis County until his retirement from the County at the age of 80.
