Jo Doll is running as a Democrat to succeed Gina Mitten as the next State Representative for District 83. Doll is running against Dem. Tyler Merkel and Libertarian Andrew Bolin in the primary election on Aug. 4. No Republican is running.
Doll has the endorsements of Representative Gina Mitten, St. Louis County Council Chair Lisa Clancy, and Maplewood-Richmond Heights Board of Education President Katie Kaufmann, according to her letter.
Dear neighbors,
My name is Jo Doll. I’m a healthcare professional, a school board member, and a mom to three amazing boys. I’m running to succeed Gina Mitten in the legislature as the next State Representative for District 83.
Access to quality healthcare is what got me in this race. After 90,000 Missouri children were kicked off Medicaid for no good reason, I knew I had to fight back. Passing Medicaid expansion on August 4th is critical to improving health outcomes in our state, but it’s just the first step. We need the right leadership in Jefferson City to protect Medicaid expansion once it passes. As a physical therapist with 25 years of healthcare experience, I feel that I’m uniquely qualified to protect healthcare access for families in Missouri.
Public education is also very important to me. I was elected to the Webster Groves School Board in 2017, where I serve on the Policy, Legislative Advocacy, and Curriculum committees. As a member of the school board, I’ve worked hard to increase pay for both teachers and support staff in our district. I want to help build a future where every child in Missouri can receive a quality public education and where every teacher can be paid appropriately for their service.
I’m grateful to have earned the support of community leaders like Representative Gina Mitten, St. Louis County Council Chair Lisa Clancy, and Maplewood-Richmond Heights Board of Education President Katie Kaufmann. Groups like the St. Louis Young Democrats, The Hadley Township Democratic Club, and the Professional Firefighters of Eastern Missouri Local #2665 have also endorsed my campaign.
If you’re looking for a progressive voice with the experience to get things done in the legislature, then I’m the candidate for you. I hope to earn your support in the Democratic Primary on August 4th. Sincerely
Jo Doll
Democratic Candidate for State Representative
District 83
Jo is a fabulous leader with great experience in health and in the world of education. She would be a wonderful addition to the House. Her experience on the Board of Education has prepared her well and also demonstrated her leadership during good and difficult times.
