Ted Kalb, the third generation to own Kalb Electric, has retired, one of the the new owners said in the shop Friday.
Kalb Electric Company LLC was formed March 12, according to state records, and is registered under Richard J. Keyes, an attorney in South County. The owners were in the shop Friday but had no comment, citing legal action.
BUYER BEWARE in dealing with new owners. I tried to return unused repair parts bought the day before and
was refused a refund, receipt states refund with original receipt only which I presented. Too many places to do
business with that value a customer. Take your business elsewhere.
It is unlikely that an attorney will actually run the business. Absentee owners can be a problem for small towns where decisions are driven by money rather than community spirit. I hope your experience is not a sign of what is to come, because Kalb Electric has always been a Maplewood Icon. If it is, I doubt Kalb Electric will be there very long.
“Legal Action” sound ominous. I would hate to think that the new “attorney” owner would take advantage of an old man with less sophistication.
Assuming that is not the case and they treated the old owner fairly, I wish them great luck in breathing new life into this icon of Maplewood and Route 66.
