The owner of Robata, in Maplewood, plans to open ‘Lao-Thai kitchen’ at 1250 Strassner, in the former home of Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe, near the intersection of S. Hanley Road, according to St. Louis Magazine.Thom Chantharasy, the owner of Robata, told St. Louis Magazine the restaurant will serve lunch and dinner.
He said Laotian food is similar to Thai food, with subtle differences.
This food is to die for. So happy!!!!
I’ve been to Twin Oaks Countless times and have never had to park any higher than the first level of the garage if I have to park in the garage all
Thanks Jed’s comment is Inaccurate.
I’d have to agree; I’d never had a problem parking on either side at Hanley Station. At Twin Oaks anyway, if parking is that big of a problem to you, just valet your car.
You hit the nail on the head – a more jacked-up parking situation you can’t find. I like Twin Oaks but seldom go given I need to dodge hotel guest in the dark walking across the postage sized lot on my way up to the 3rd or 4th floor of that garage with all the reserved spots for the apartment dwellers on the lower levels. These restaurant survive on the tourist trade and apartment dwellers nearby.
That’s a difficult location. Barely any street visibility, a difficult parking situation (ironically enough), and quite a bit of food competition nearby. Never saw more than 1 other guest in Camille’s. Hopefully they’ll do better.
I’m hoping that being unique might help make it a destination type place that people will seek out. Robata behind it will help. Cammille’s was good but not significantly different than most other cafes. I’d like to see the new restaurant survive. It sounds really interesting.
