Let Them Eat Art is Friday, streets will be closed

A parade to celebrate Saratoga Lanes’ centennial will kick off Maplewood’s 12th annual Let Them Eat Art on Friday. The parade will run from Railroad Street to Marietta Avenue on Sutton Boulevard. It’s set to start at 6 p.m.

The evening’s entertainment will include bands, belly dancers, jugglers, balloon twisters, hula hoopers, a pancake artist, a dream interpreter, a chalk artist and lots more. See the complete list of entertainers here.

Some streets will be closed for the event, according to the city.

Sutton Boulevard:

4 p.m. — Sutton will be closed between Manchester and Hazel at 4 p.m. The parking lot at 2731 Sutton will be cleared by 3 p.m. and access will not be available after that time. There will be no parking in the lot or on Sutton during the event.

5 – 7:30 p.m. — Sutton to Railroad Street, no parking on the west side of the street.
6 – 7:30 p.m. — No traffic will be permitted on Sutton from Railroad Street to Manchester during Saratoga Lanes’ Centennial Parade.

Manchester Road:

5 p.m. — The parking lane on the south side of the 7300 block of Manchester between Marshall and Sutton will be closed to parking and established as a “no parking” pedestrian zone during the event.

Marietta Avenue:

4 p.m. — Marietta will be closed to through traffic at the western end of the 7300 block with a blockade just west of the western driveway of the Marietta parking lot. No traffic will be able to access Sutton from Marshall. The Marietta lot will remain open with access to and from Marietta via Marshall. Marietta will remain open at the eastern end with two-way traffic at Marshall.

All lanes will return to normal traffic conditions by 11:45 p.m. on Friday, July 8.

Parking information, via the city of Maplewood:

All of Maplewood’s on-street parking is free. There are a number of public lots that are also free. Please do not park in private lots, you may be subject to the terms set by the owner.

  • Citizens National Bank Parking Lot, northeast corner of Manchester and Oakview Terrace
  • Dobbs Tire, 7447 Manchester
  • 7401 Manchester (rear lot) enter at Margarette and Manchester
  • People’s Health Center, 7200 Manchester
  • Bellevue Parking Lot, northwest corner of Bellevue and Manchester
  • Immaculate Conception Church Lot at 2934 Marshall just two blocks south of Manchester
  • 7300 Manchester, Marietta Parking Lot (rear lot)
