40 South News accepted this letter to the editor supporting Mark Osmack, running in the Democratic primary on August 7.
I support Mark Osmack for Missouri’s second congressional district in the Democratic primary on August 7th, and I would like to encourage my friends and neighbors in Brentwood and Richmond Heights to do the same. I’ve carefully considered all five of the Democratic candidates, and I believe that Mark Osmack is the best choice to beat Ann Wagner in the fall.
Mark is a combat veteran who served two tours in Afghanistan and was awarded a Bronze Star. He used the GI bill to attend George Washington University where he completed a Masters of Public Administration. While in D.C., Mark worked on defense and veteran’s affairs for Tammy Duckworth, who is endorsing him in this race.
Mark grew up in the district, attending Lindbergh High School before graduating from Mizzou. He has deep roots in the community, and a commitment to serving its people. Mark supports a progressive platform including Medicare for all, common sense gun control, and strengthening public education. Unlike most politicians, Mark doesn’t dissemble or equivocate, so you always know where he stands on the issues. Mark’s campaign is building momentum and grass-roots enthusiasm, knocking on about 15,000 doors in the district to date.
Finally, I think that Mark appeals not only to Democrats, but to undecided and swing voters whose votes will be needed to win in November. He is better positioned to counter the attacks that are sure to come from a well-funded Republican incumbent. The fight for MO #2 is going to be a tough battle. Mark Osmack has the grit, humility, and determination needed to win.
Sincerely, Robin Duntze
He is not going n my district but got a check from me!
Districts 1 and 2 are both gerrymandered pretty good, the primary is the only real election for those seats.
My wife and I met Mark at the Keep Families Together march downtown a few weeks ago and were very impressed with him. He’s young, energetic, has a great biography, and has progressive stands on the issues. Taking down Ann Wagner in this district will be a gargantuan task, but I think he has the best shot at doing it. Check out Mark’s Facebook page for videos and more info about Mark and his position on the issues.
I have met Mark at one of his early campaign events, and was deeply impressed with his forthrightness, intelligence, and sense of humor. I am not in the 2nd district, or I would definitely vote for him.
Wagner celebrates when people lose their healthcare
Anyone who can get rid of Ann Wagner would have my vote. Unfortunately, I’m not in Missouir 2. would love to vote against her though.
I believe I’d recommend staying with Ann Wagner. Get someone to run against the Clay Dynasty and I’ll listen.
Why?
Wagner and Clay are in different districts. Both have primary challengers, but you can only vote in one district. Why would you suggest staying with a representative who votes with Trump 96% of the time and does zero town halls?
So doing town halls makes you a better candidate? Please explain.
Openness and accessibility with the constituents.
Yes, Sophie!
Because Trump is doing an awesome job! You liberals are just too blind to see it. The Clay dynasty has gerimandered (sp) the hell out of St Louis County and City–just to choose areas that are over 50% minority population.
Perhaps you should direct your anger at the state legislature since they are the ones that set those district boundaries, not “liberals”.
