Brentwood’s Maddenfest has been canceled for Friday night, due to the threat of severe weather and site conditions, the city has posted.
At this time, Saturday’s events are still scheduled to take place. An update on Saturday’s schedule of events will available on the city website www.brentwoodmo.org after 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
For now, the parade still begins at noon and carnival rides are scheduled for 1-7:30 p.m.
Still don’t know why Brentwood surrendered its name to a name that has no meaning to 90% of our populations.
Maddenfest was originally started in honor of the City’s 60th anniversary in 1979. The name comes from Thomas Madden, the original settler and founder of Brentwood (it was called Maddenville prior to 1919). Lorraine Krewson chaired the Maddenfest event committee from it’s start until 1996, when she retired. The name was changed to Brentwood Days in 1995. After her passing in 2012, the name was changed back in her honor.
It would only be “in her honor” if we called it Krewsonfest.
