Two Maplewood antique shops are set to close their doors at the end of May — Roots Antiques, at 7328 Manchester, and Maplewood Galleries, at 7415 Manchester Road.
Roots is co-owned by sisters; Nancy Kassabaum, Penny Dreyer and Patti Brightfield. They’ve been in Maplewood 10 years, at two locations. They’re closing the shop to retire, they said.
“We feel like being a part of Maplewood has been a blessing, getting to work together has been a blessing, and then just the countless people that we’ve gotten to meet, and many become friends with,” Kassabaum said.
Maplewood Galleries opened in May 2013.
Both shops are planning sales before they close. See Maplewood Galleries and Roots on Facebook for the latest.
I can understand wanting to retire—but i surely wish you could sell your business to another who appreciates antiques. Your store was part of the renaissance that put M’wd on the map. We are going through difficult financial times, but antiques and art are timeless provocateurs of how we got to be who we are. These are actually–for you a business, but for some of us a part of Truth in life. Best wishes to you all.
Noooooo!!!! Not Roots! We adore that shop. Any idea of when their last day will be?
We loved Roots. About half of our house is furnished with their items. All three of the sisters are so nice. They also made a mean gooey butter cake. We will miss them!
