Maplewood council to discuss seat belt law

Tuesday at the Maplewood City Council meeting Mayor James White will be presented with the CALEA Accreditation that the Maplewood Police Department qualified for. Sergeant Michael Martin will be recognized for his work over several years managing the process.

Also at the council meeting Tuesday at 7:30:

  • A law making a stop sign at Sutton and Marietta permanent and a law prohibiting sale of e-cigarettes to anyone 18 and under are up for final council votes.
  • A law making it possible for a vehicle to be pulled over solely for a seat belt violation will be discussed.
  • Three proposed businesses, a coffee shop at 2810 Sutton, an art gallery at 2506 Sutton and a gas station/convenience store at 3600 S. Big Bend will be discussed. All were previously OK’d by planning and zoning.
  • The Hellmuth & Bicknese architectural firm, for the second time in a council meeting, present their work on a veterans memorial in front of Maplewood City Hall.

Also this week, the Maplewood Design and Review Board meets Thursday at 6 p.m.

The Brentwood Public Works Committee meets Wednesday at city hall at 4:30 p.m. Planning and Zoning meets at 7 p.m. also Wednesday at city hall.
