Maplewood house saved from demolition, now rehabbed and sold

Maplewood house, 7228 Moller Avenue, which at one time sat vacant and faced demolition in 2015, has been rehabbed and sold, according to Premier Realty Exclusive.

It was listed at $249,900, on the company’s website. According to a mailer it had five offers. See photos of what it looks like now.

In January 2015, a Maplewood inspector, at a hearing at city hall, said that morning he had found the back door open, open junction boxes in the kitchen, shutters lying on the ground and the rear deck deteriorating. He said it wasn’t fit for occupancy.

At the meeting, neighbor, Doug McElvain, said the house and the one next to it were built for daughters of the original occupant of his house. He said it was in good condition until Bank of America foreclosed on it in approximately 2012. The woman who lived there tried to renegotiate her loan for more than a year. “Finally the bank said, here’s a little check — move. So she took the check and moved,” McElvain said. “Then the bank foreclosed on the house.”

Premier Realty bought the house in December 2015 for $97,500, according to St. Louis County records.
