The Maplewood Jack in the Box closed permanently on Monday.
That’s according to an employee on the site, signs in the windows, and Google. The location, at 7520 Manchester Road, is owned by Foodmaker Inc. It was built in 1970 according to county records.
Ah Jack in the Box, Jumbo Jacks, greasy Taco’s, responsible for my inability to fit into my size 5 bell bottoms and the acne on my face. But I have to admit as a teenager I LOVED the place, and still smile when I think back to the many times I ate there. It was never healthy food but it never pretended to be. Loved the taco salad too. I will miss you. Thanks for all the wonderful late night runs through the drive through when I was much younger. You will be missed.
A over 50 year run is pretty impressive, I ate their often late night in the mid 70’s. A short drive from my home in Webster.. Let’s not forget the Jack in the box figure head that would take your order. Vandalism to the clown finally said we got to change to speaker only. I’ve got memories.. 😊
Is the building for sale or will it sit there abandoned for years?
I’m betting it will sit empty and eventually end up like the Steak ‘n Shake lot.
memories of that place i went to MRH class of 96 i loved there tacos and strawberry drink
My first job after MRH graduation. Summer of 1976.
Did you work with my brother Paul Hely?
Fast food comes and goes. We had a Church’s Chicken, SteaknShake, McDonalds, Burger King and maybe others.
Wasn’t there also a Hardee’s?
Yep, it was where Gus’s is now.
And before Hardees it was Burger Chef.
Itll make the perfect place for a new chicken-based concept restaurant.
I first went there in 1971 with my mother. I wouldn’t call myself a habitué, but I’m vaguely nostalgic about it.
