The Maplewood McDonald’s closed its doors at around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Signs on the doors say it is temporarily closed. The employees found out only Monday that the franchise was being bought out by the corporation.

Seth Ferrill, 19, had worked there five months and wasn’t happy to have it end.
“It was just a crappy job, but now it’s a crappy job I don’t have,” he said.
He said many of the store’s employees had been there 10 years or more.
The employees were divided between the McDonald’s on Hanley Road, in Brentwood and the one in Des Peres, Ferrill said.
He was offered a job at the Hanley Road location, but said he’s not enthusiastic about it. He thought he might be offered fewer hours than he had in Maplewood.
He said there was lots of crying and hugs from the regular customers, many in their 80s, when the store was shutting down Tuesday night.
Note: the McDonald’s is partially in Maplewood and partially in Webster Groves, and is licensed in Webster Groves.
They left the flags up. I thought there were rules on how the U.S. flag is supposed to handled, such not flying in rain or at night. At least, that is what I was taught during my Boy Scout days. Here is a web site I found on the flag code:
