Maplewood Police said in a press release Monday that while officers were investigating a report of a stolen car on Zephyr Place on foot Sunday night, the car, a Mercedes, drove at the officers at a high rate of speed, and the officers fired at the car. The car crashed and three juveniles were apprehended and arrested. There were no injuries.

A Maplewood resident in the 7200 block of Zephyr Place told 40 South what he saw from his balcony: “My building is surrounded by police tape. What may have started out as a robbery escalated into a shooting around 11:15 PM. The County Police Crime Scene Unit just showed up about 15 minutes ago. Three hours ago, Maplewood PD showed up to the scene and probably gave chase as far north as Richmond Place and as far south as Lyndover. From what I’ve heard from the police three people showed up in a robbery, possibly involving a stolen car.”
