The Maplewood Family Aquatic Center lifeguards had it easy Sunday afternoon. The wading pool closed for the day at about 2:30 p.m. for what lifeguards call an AFR—accidental fecal release.
The pool was immediately cleared and underwent hours of a shock treatment when the accident was discovered. It will reopen for use on Monday, lifeguard, Zech Bishop said.
“I feel sorry for the little guy,” Bishop said, “but it happens.”
The pool will hold its 10th annual dog swim September 5 and 6, which is the last event of the season.
