Water Street Cafe, at 7268 Manchester Road, in Maplewood, announced on Facebook today that they plan to close the doors on January 30.
The owners say they’ve been in Maplewood for seven years and the time is right to close the restaurant and start something new.
I think a new Ben Poremba place is moving to that spot?
First Femme right next door closes and now Water Street Cafe? That’s a lot of prime square footage opening up. I wonder what is going on?

Funny
I really hope they are planning on opening a new concept at that location. Waterstreet was a great spot and I’d love to see something else from them. Otherwise, we can pray for another spot just as good to take the place, but that will be tough.
I wish them the best in moving on and trying something new, but i feel like just bc they have been here 7 yrs does not sound like a good excuse to give up on Maplewood. A commitment to be such a wonderful resturant in this neighborhood and now leaving is so sad….:(:(
don’t worry that’s not the real reason it’s just the reason they put out there, it’s because they’re not making enough / losing money
So very sorry to read this news — Water Street is our very favorite place in town. Time to find a new favorite. Nothing will replace Water Street, though.
I’m really sorry to hear that Water Street is closing. Always good drinks and food in a cozy space.
So sorry to hear this! Electricity going out a few years ago gave me an excuse to go there–enjoyed the very BEST vegetarian eggplant dish ever!!! Cheese atop and abottom! mmmmm goood!!! Went back with visiting friend and had a wonderful time. 🙁 All the best as they move on—a loss for Maplewood—
