A comment on Sunday in the Maplewood YIMBY (yes in my back yard) Facebook group that the Maplewood Shop ‘n Save has gotten “crummy” over the past year started a very active discussion that continued through the afternoon.
Some wondered about the freshness of the produce, and why products, like a favorite Greek yogurt, disappears from the shelves. Another said to take complaints the manager, because he doesn’t want to lose customers to Aldi.
An assistant manager who declined to be identified said Tuesday that if a product disappears from the shelf, or if you’d like to see something different, tell someone at the customer service counter.
He said it could be a stocking issue, but also that the store is at the mercy of the warehouse, and they have no say in many products.

He also said to take any issues with product freshness to the customer service counter. He said it would go to him, and if needed, to his boss. He said they like it not to go any higher than that.
The assistant manager said new produce and deli managers have been hired recently.
“We’re always trying to improve, and part of the community,” he said.
This is so great to hear. I live & want to shop in Maplewood but the produce is NOT fresh or worth the price so I go elsewhere when I want fresh produce & end up doing the rest of my shopping. SNS lost out on another $100 (or more) purchase due to lack of freshness. I am looking forward to shopping here again. Thank you for recognizing this problem.
