The city of Maplewood has won nationwide recognition for its use of renewable energy.
At its 16th annual Green Power Leadership Awards, on Monday in San Fransisco, the EPA named Maplewood the Green Power Community of the Year.
Corporations such as Apple and Kohl’s were also recognized for achievements in advancing the nation’s renewable energy market and helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.
The Maplewood community more than tripled its use of green power, resulting in more than five percent of the community-wide total electricity use last year, according to the EPA.
Absolutely awesome! We should be proud and strive to do even more. Great job Maplewood!
Ho’omaika’i ‘ana, Maplewood!
