Mauhaus Cat Cafe and Lounge (3101 Sutton Boulevard) is a space for cats and people who like cats, to hang out with them, and if all works out, to adopt them. After opening in Maplewood 16 months ago, the 100th Mauhaus cat left with a new parent, Riverfront Times has reported.

The cats at Mauhaus come from Stray Haven Rescue, which adopts all its cats from shelters where they would end up being killed. Mauhaus co-owner Ben Triola told Riverfront Times their cats get a second chance.

The RFT says Mauhaus has been busy almost every day since it opened, and while visitors no longer need to book appointments a month in advance, it’s encouraged, especially on weekends.

Mauhaus was busy on a rainy Thursday morning.

  1. From its inception, Mauhaus has proven itself an exemplary asset to the Maplewood community and to the larger animal welfare community of the St. Louis region. Best wishes for continued success at your mission of finding homes for these wonderful animals. You are a treasure.
