MAUHAUS, St. Louis’s first cat café, has made public the first iteration of their food and drink menu, according to a press release on April 26.
While the main attraction at MAUHAUS is obviously cats, the culinary aspects certainly don’t take a back seat.
“This isn’t just a coffee house with cats – we’re aiming to create an amazing experience from the moment you walk in the door. Food is a big part of that,” partner, Ben Triola said.
As a bakery and café, some of the menu is what you’d expect; scones, croissants, biscotti, and espresso drinks. Not all of the menu, however, is ordinary café fare.
“We want to offer something not everyone has had before. Our menu definitely has some international inspiration,” partner Dana Huth said.
- The menu pulls from South East Asian, European, and South American cuisines. Customers can expect to find things like Thai iced tea, Vietnamese ice coffee, and baked goods from around the world.

For those wanting something more than a baked good, MAUHAUS offers an entire savory menu. Variations on arepas, samosas, and cicchetti keep things interesting, while those looking for something more traditional will find quiches, hummus, and cheese platters featuring house made cheeses. Vegan and “glutenless” options will also be available.

Dana and Ben have been working with kitchen manager, Alyssa Bennett (formerly of PieCraft) to design an inspired menu that compliments an already magical experience. Although some items may change before opening, this first iterations is a good reflection of the taste and tone of the final menu.
Mauhaus is set to open at 3101A Sutton Boulevard in the summer.
