Eighth-graders in Mrs. Sarah Dorhauer’s science class learned first-hand how the human heart works, thanks to a visit from Dr. Steve Pieper.
Pieper, a cardiologist at the Mercy Clinic Heart and Vascular Center, brought hearts from a cow, sheep and pig, and explained to the students how these hearts compared to a human heart. Under Dr. Pieper’s direction, students dissected the hearts to reveal their inner anatomy.
