Each year, the Missouri Bar recognizes state lawmakers who have made significant contributions to legislation which affects the administration of justice and the integrity of the judiciary, according to The Missouri Bar. This year, Rep. Gina Mitten (D-St. Louis), from Richmond Heights was one of four selected.
Mitten serves as the assistant minority floor leader of the House, and the ranking minority member of the House Judiciary Committee. She was nominated for a Legislative Award based on her longstanding support of Missouri Bar legislative initiatives. She keeps in contact with the bar regarding its legislative priorities and often requests input from members of the bar’s legislative committees on other legislation.
Mitten told the Missouri Bar, “[…] whether or not you’re actually in the legislature or just one of the bar members that are helping weigh in and providing that guidance and advice […] you can make something better,” Mitten said about her collaboration with The Missouri Bar. “And frankly, isn’t that kind of why we became lawyers?”
Way to represent – thanks Gina!
