Maplewood Richmond Heights third grade girls competed over the weekend at the Chaifetz Arena in the FIRST LEGO League Jr expo, Jennifer Phillips has reported.
The team met each week since the fall researching life on the moon, designing a space habitat, and programming a robotic rover. They then presented their work to an audience and panel of judges.
The team, “The Galaxy Girls,” received the “Presentation Sensation” award for their work. This is the team’s second year participating in the nationwide event.
The team members are: Hazel Brenner, Zahava Kaplan, Elliana Cerven, Kaelyn Krysowaty, Madeline Phillips, Millie Hamilton, and Beatrice Schmidt. They are coached by Sean Krysowaty and Becky Rockett.

I do not see much information on Team #15033 – Galaxy Girls online, but perhaps we will see in the next MRH newsletter!
-Warmest regards from a FIRST Robotics Competition (the high school level program) volunteer and founding mentor for the first FRC level all-female team in the STL region and the state of Missouri!
Great job Ladies!
I want to see what it was they built. Maybe the school website? Way to go kids!
LEGO League Jr. gives early elementary school students and their adult coaches the opportunity to work and create together while they explore science and technology concepts.
I saw these young women leaving the awards ceremony when I was volunteering at the FIRST Robotics Competition (the high school level robots) St. Louis Regional competition. Way to go!
