Maplewood Richmond Heights head football coach, J.C. Kime, submitted a letter of resignation to the school on Friday, stating he will not be available to coach next year, MRH director of communication, Brian Adkisson said by email Monday.
Adkisson said technically however, “The head football coach position, like all other coaching positions, is an extra duty contract, and no extra duty contracts for the 2015-16 school year have been approved by the Board of Education (and hence offered to anyone).”
Kime replaced Rich Nixon as head coach before the 2013 season. Nixon is now athletic director. Kime is coaching discus and shot put this spring.
There were rumors in March that MRH had dropped its football program, but the school denied that.
“The only thing I can say, is thus far, we have low numbers again—kids showing interest, but that’s down the road. It looks similar to last year,” Adkisson said at the time.
We’re sorry to lose you, J.C.!
