Maplewood Richmond Heights freshman Kal Kolar, representing MRH on the school’s first golf team in the school’s history, won the Class 2 District 5 boys golf tournament, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
Kolar won the title Tuesday at The Falls Golf Club with a 1-over-par 72, with a seven-shot victory over Whitfield junior Drew Newlin.
The Post-Dispatch reported that Kolar is a big reason why MRH added boys golf, for the first time this spring.
“The important thing for me is he’s a good kid, a great golfer, a great human being overall,” said Shane Dixon, a ninth-year Maplewood-RH history teacher who took on the role of the program’s first coach, also from the Post-Dispatch.

Apparently MRH had golf team in the 60’s and 70’s. I never knew this but someone commented on a FB page he lettered in it back in the day.
Great going! I’m wondering where the golf team practices. Anyone know?
Congrats to this young man, awesome. One over par, very impressive. Very happy to see golf at MRH, great sport that builds character.
