Maplewood Richmond Heights booster club president, David Barton, reported the results (from MRH cross country coach Ryan Rzeszutko) of the Class 2 District 2 meet at Spanish Lake Park, on Saturday.
Rzeszutko‘s report:
The MRH XC team had an outstanding District meet out in the cold today. Malik Stewart took 1st place overall, cruising to victory with a time of 17:00. Josh Helle qualified for State as well, finishing 14th with a time of 18:24. All five of our other varsity boys runners (Leo Salazar, Ryan Casey, Jaylon Carter, Josh Clark and Keshon Duke) set huge personal records in their final race of the season.
On the girls’ side, Angel Casey finished 10th overall, qualifying for State and setting a new school record in the process at 23:22. Liana Van Zen finished just a step behind her, finishing 11th at 23:23, and also qualifying for State. Kyla Walker, Marija Miteva and Edyth Seymour all finished their seasons with major personal records as well.
Please congratulate these incredible athletes on their performance, and wish our 4 state qualifiers good luck next Saturday. It’s been a phenomenal season for Blue Devil XC!
Brentwood and the ‘on the rise’ MRH debate teams both competed at a tournament at Parkway West on Saturday. Brentwood took nine competitors and walked away with ten awards, they posted on Twitter. MRH’s smaller team didn’t come home empty-handed.
Very proud of my son Malik and the whole MRH Cross Country team.
We are all so proud of them too! Way to go!
