Following the state cross country meet in Jefferson City, Maplewood Richmond Heights cross country coach Ryan Rzeszutko reported (via David Barton on Facebook) that MRH cross country’s future is bright.

Today, our athletes competed in the State meet in Jefferson City, and Coach Spinks and I could not have asked for a better end to our season. Our girls’ team represented us so well as MRH’s first ever full XC team to run at State. All six of our girls ran extremely well on the toughest course in the state.

On the boys side, Josh Helle ran his second fastest time to date, finishing at an impressive 18:30.

Finally, Malik Stewart took our program to new heights with a standout performance to finish his sophomore season. Out of the 171 top Class 2 runners in the state who competed, Malik finished second overall, setting a new school 5K record with a time of 16:47.

It has been such an amazing season for Blue Devil XC, and the future only looks brighter for us. Thank you for all of your support!
