The Maplewood Richmond Heights School District Board of Directors on Thursday selected a new member to fill out the unexpired term of a former board member who resigned in April, the school district has announced.
Brandi Herndon-Miller was selected from a group of five applicants for the job previously held by Ray Crader, who stepped down from the board following a successful run for Maplewood City Council.
Herndon-Miller is a family and criminal law attorney and lifelong resident of Richmond Heights. She has children starting in the fifth grade in the district later this month. She is a graduate of MICDS and holds a law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
“As an attorney, I learn to see both sides of every argument,” Herndon-Miller said. “It is that viewpoint that I believe will serve myself and MRH the most, as I have no agendas or preconceived notions coming onto the board.
“I am very involved with the district. I love the district,” she continued. “I have watched the district grow into what it is today, and am proud of the education my children are receiving there.”
The MRH school board comprises seven members who are elected for three-year, staggered terms.
Great, and welcome. Hope you can encourage Richmond Heights City to be more indentified with our school district. As a fellow resident of Richmond Heights, I often feel as if our school district patrons view Maplewood as the sole community for soliciting and receiving much of their support, when the businesses, government, and residents of Richmond Heights are a vital ingredient for its success.
E komo mai me ho’omaika’i ‘ana!
Welcome and congratulations!
