MRH wrestler breaks school record

Maplewood Richmond Heights senior wrestler, Romelle Person, at the STC Classic Wrestling Invitational Tournament on Saturday, at St. Clair, broke the school record for career wins with 129 wins.

“I been staying prayed up every step of the way and it paid off still pushing for that second state title!!!” he posted on Facebook. Person took second at State as a sophomore and won it as a junior.

At the St. Clair tournament he went: first match, 15-0; second match, pin; third match, pin; fourth match, 12-0; fifth match 7-0. He wrestled at the 132 weight class.

The wins record was previously held by Mark Watkins, with 128, according to MRH wrestling coach Cory Reichert.

As a team, MRH finished fifth out of nine. See how the rest of the team did.
