Maplewood Richmond Heights senior wrestler, Romelle Person recently competed in the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Wrestling Championships, taking second.
“I lost in over time 8-6,” Person said on Facebook. “But still in all I give God the glory for giving me the ability to keep fighting when others said I couldn’t do it. I truly thank my cousin Chadd Wheelington and his wife for coming out and supporting me.”
Making it to the semi-finals made Person a High School All-American.
Person and MRH senior Ronald Stewart were also crowned All American last year at the “Tournament of Champions” and recently Stewart was named All American last weekend at the “FloNationals Competition” MRH reported.
Person finished his MRH wrestling career as a two-time Missouri state champion, two-time high school All-American, two-time high school National finalist, and holds the MRH record for the most wins with 157.
When Person returned home he received an encouraging text from a Mizzou wrestling coach, he posted on Facebook.
Congrats! That’s an amazing accomplishment. Should be very proud.
