The Metropolitan Sewer District is planning a sewer replacement project that will tear into parts of at least a dozen streets in Maplewood, according to notes for Tuesday’s council meeting. The work is planned for 2015.
The “Maplewood — Blendon Combined Sewer Relief Phase 1 Project” will separate sewers that are now combined (sanitary and storm water). Instead of allowing MSD to patch the streets after the work, MSD would pay Maplewood $470,000, and the city will take resposibility. The cost of totally replacing the streets would be approximately $1 million, so the city will end up with new streets for $530,000.
The Maplewood City Council will vote on the resolution on Tuesday.
