When Becca Schwartz moved to St. Louis from the Pacific Northwest she wondered where all the drive-thru espresso stands were. Where she lived, in Granite Falls, Washington, there were five within a mile, she said.
She found the former Brentwood Perk stand, at 2944 S. Brentwood Boulevard, and has been building customers since May.
Schwartz said drive-thrus in the Northwest don’t offer brewed coffee because everyone drinks Americanos. Brewed coffee isn’t on her menu but she serves it.
Coming from the Northwest, she wanted coffee from there too. Her mom suggested Longbottom Coffee. Though she said her mom is a Starbucks fan, she was driving along the Oregon coast and stopped at an espresso stand and tried their coffee; it was so smooth, she said.
Her espresso is a ‘sweet’ espresso – a blend of light and dark roasted beans. The house brew is a light Italian roast.
“The great thing about our coffee is that it’s hot air roasted so during the roasting process all the impurities are taken out and you’re left with a pure bean, and it’s less acidic and really smooth,” she said.
The name of the shop, Bonaventure Coffee, was the name of the B-24 bomber her grandfather flew in World War II; it means good fortune.
I will happily support this business! It’s nice to have more than the option of Starbucks for a quick brew. Thanks, Becca!
LOVE this place! Truly the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. I get so excited when my husband doesn’t make a pot of coffee at home so I can drive through this place and treat myself.
Bonaventure is a great place to pick up your morning pick me up. Chris and Becca are fun, hardworking folks who aim to please their customers. Their beverages have helped to wake me up for work many mornings.
Just had a cafe au lait (half coffee, half steamed milk). It was great, it was smooth I find Starbucks bitter.
I can’t wait to try it, sounds delicious!
I stop by almost every Saturday while walking my dog. Good coffee and nice people – I hope everyone gives them a try!
