The owners of the barbecue restaurant, SugarFire Smoke House, are considering opening a new restaurant at the former Del Taco location, 1033 McCausland Avenue, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The owners have said it wouldn’t be a barbecue restaurant.
“We have strong interest in the spot and have been exploring it for some time,” SugarFire co-owner Mike Johnson told the Post-Dispatch via text message.
The Del Taco closed in 2011.
The proposed fast-casual restaurant would feature indoor and outdoor seating, but no drive-thru, according to an email the Post-Dispatch obtained that Alderman Lyda Krewson sent to constituents in the Hi-Pointe neighborhood.
