Thanks mainly to $751,105 in federal funds and partly to $25,000 from Brentwood business, Pelagic Inc., pedestrians will be getting close to a mile of new sidewalks in Hanley Industrial Park. The city board of aldermen approved the agreement last week.

Sidewalks will be added from the intersection of Strassner Drive and Hanley Industrial Court to Memorial Park, and from the north side of the Hanley Industrial Complex along Hanley Industrial Court south to the intersection of Hanley Industrial Court and Bernard Drive.

The project is related to a sidewalk already added along Hanley Industrial Court Street from Brentwood Promenade near the MetroLink station to Memorial Park, though, as Ward 4 Alderman Tom Kramer said in the meeting, that sidewalk is often unused. Pedestrians often walk on the other side of the street, where there is no sidewalk.
