Four Maplewood businesses were on the Design and Review Board agenda Thursday at Maplewood City Hall with designs for signs. Three were approved.
Andrew Graefe, co-owner of Juke Joint, at 7376 Manchester Road, had a drawing of a proposed protruding sign, to be mounted on the north side of the building. It was approved. The banners currently on the building are temporary. Juke Joint opened in November, 2015. Graefe said they’re doing a family event on Sunday afternoons that have been popular, and the second Sunday of the month bands are invited to play and have a live vinyl disc cut.
Massey Auction Service has taken over the entire building at 3212 Sutton. They shared it with American Legion Post 103 for several years, but the American Legion had run out of members, Ken Massey said. Ken and Margaret Massey had signs approved after a discussion.
Lori Shifter, co-owner of The Silver Lady, at 7318 Manchester Road, came to the meeting with her new sign. The Silver Lady is moving in where Gisele’s moved out in the end of 2015. Shifter said she plans to open in early April, and hopes to have her door open the morning of the Maplewood Coffee Crawl, April 2. See also: Silver jewelry store to open in Maplewood
Smart Rentals, 2309 South Big Bend, was on the agenda, but had no representative at the meeting. The board passed by their proposed sign.
