Maplewood city council members Nick Homa, Ward 3; Shawn Faulkingham, Ward3; Matt Coriell, Ward 1; Krista Garcia, Ward 1 and Eric Page, Ward 2 have endorsed C Wiley for Ward 1 council member. The endorsements are below, beginning with Homa’s. Nick Homa sent this to 40 South and asked for it to be posted.
I am excited to officially endorse C Wiley for Ward 1 – Maplewood City Council. C has a strong focus on housing affordability, recognizing that stable and secure housing is the foundation for thriving families. They believe that everyone deserves access to affordable housing, and they are dedicated to implementing solutions that ensure all families can live safely and comfortably in our city.
C has already demonstrated their commitment to solving our housing crisis with their ideas and votes on the Planning and Zoning Commission. They have backed up this rhetoric with a capacity to communicate the need for updated zoning, greater housing density, and additional mixed use housing; they will bring to the Ward 1 council seat the steps for how to get us there.
They also have a clear vision for creating a community where every individual, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, feels valued and supported. By promoting policies that celebrate diversity and foster a sense of belonging, we can build a city where queer families can flourish and thrive.
Prior to service on the P&Z commission, C had a positive presence around city hall at meetings, town halls, and public events. Because of this, C has established relationships with council members and city staff alike. The recent endorsements from four other council members (Matt Coriell – Ward 1, Krista Garcia – Ward 1, Eric Page – Ward 2, and Shawn Faulkingham – Ward 3 – see full endorsements below) indicate that C has already begun the bridge building needed to keep progress moving forward from the dais.
Finally, and arguably most important, is the lived experience that C will bring to the city council. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, they understand the day to day challenges of those impacted by inequities, underrepresentation, and bigoted policy-making. Representation matters, and C is equipped to directly represent a group that is missing from our current elected body.
As a sitting Maplewood Council Member, I believe that individual free speech rights are incredibly important. Even so, there are times when a council member might limit his own freedoms in order to serve the greater good. We are representatives in non-partisan positions elected and empowered by our constituents. Every city council member should be working hard toward the same goal: making the City of Maplewood the best place to live, work, and play while simultaneously serving the needs of their ward’s constituents. I would be remiss not to endorse and strongly recommend C Wiley for the Ward 1 city council seat.
C Wiley is bright, capable, motivated, and the most ready candidate to serve Maplewood’s citizens on day one. Please join me and support C on April 8th with a write-in vote for C Wiley for Ward 1 – Maplewood City Council.

As the current Council Member of Ward 1, I wholeheartedly endorse C Wiley, who embodies the values of unity and inclusiveness that our community needs. I am excited to see C lead Ward 1 with a vision that brings us all together and works for everyone. -Matt Coriell, Ward 1 Council Member
I am excited that C is running for Ward 1 Council Member, and I heartily endorse them. C’s focus on supporting all Maplewood families and affordable housing is a great fit for our City Council! -Krista Garcia, Ward 1 Council Member
It’s a pleasure to announce my endorsement and support of C Wiley for Ward 1 Council Member in the forthcoming election. I’ve come to know C as a passionate and credible voice in support of the shared values for which Maplewood is beloved. Representation matters, and C’s presence on council is needed now more than ever. -Eric Page, Ward 2 Council Member
Same 5 that fully and unconditionally supported and promoted Prop J, yes?
The one that was beaten 75-25% in last year’s election? I mean-what kinda legislation goes down in flames in that kind of number?
Pointing that out only because if you’re gonna endorse and imply that you know what and who is best for this community, it’s only fair to remind voters that y’all were in lockstep with the former mayor on a deeply unpopular ballot measure even after many residents spoke out against it publicly. So you are well within your rights to endorse anyone you wish-just as others are free to question whether this is objective or just more groupthink and elitism at work in our “inclusive” little town.
So, C Wiley is a group of people? Where will they all sit on the dais if they win?
What’s C Wiley?
They are running as a write-in for city council for ward 1 as is Marie Long.
Beyond thrilled to have C running as a potential candidate for ward 1! Our community will be better for it if they win.
Looks like it will be “A BRAND NEW DAY” one way or the other.
Here’s hoping! We need some sunshine in MWood in this crazy political climate!
For sure! So nice to see these two candidates and their supporters acting like adults and not mudslinging online or stirring up divisions. As it should be…regardless of who is supporting who.
This must be in reference to the name of the LLC formed by an appointed member of city hall and the former mayor… days before said appointee dropped lawsuits on the city. A legal settlement would be some killer seed money for a start up company. Go look up Brand New Day LLC on the Secretary of State’s website. Public record is a B****.
What the hell does this have to do with the city council race in the first ward? Lacks relevance here. Nice attempt at misdirection, Don Juan.
Excellent point: what does this have to do with the city council election? I only brought it up when someone slid in the “BRAND NEW DAY” comment. C. Wiley (who I’m sure is a nice person and worthy candidate) is an affiliate of the former mayor, and most of her leftover council. The former mayor formed an LLC (BRAND NEW DAY, LLC, filed July 23, 2024 per the Missouri Secretary of State website) with an appointed member of the city days before he sued the city, the current mayor, and others. Sounds a bit sus considering the former mayor is an attorney, but I doubt you’ll agree.
Here’s some advice since your bully crew didn’t learn with the mayoral election last year: If you want your candidate to win, maybe back off and play nice this time. You obviously didn’t learn last time, and Greenberg won with over 60% of the vote on a write in! Takeaway message: your cult of personality is disingenuous and off putting to more than just your neighbors.
After all of that, it still has nothing to do with the endorsement made in the article for C, who you only referred to once:
“C. Wiley (who I’m sure is a nice person and worthy candidate) is an affiliate of the former mayor, and most of her leftover council.”
So this candidate doesn’t hate the former mayor but you do and that’s bad. Is that the issue here? Otherwise I don’t know why you care that the former mayor, who you don’t like, did some lawyer stuff to create an LLC for someone else you don’t like, but has nothing to do with this candidate.
Stop trying to create drama and divisiveness in the community. We have gone down that road before and it didn’t serve us then, won’t help us now.
I am not sure why you decided to post this unrelated rant as it has to do with the article posted. Both candidates running for Ward 1 have seemed to treat each other with respect and kindness so let’s try and emulate that as well.
What in the world does this have to do with the city council race?
Yes! C for the win! It’s so exciting to have such an amazing candidate in our ward! Big things! Good trouble!
