The suspect was charged by St. Louis County with a felony for leaving the scene of an accident and a misdemeanor DWI. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.

An Ameren worker on the site said the car sheared off the pole at the ground and continued on to hit a Jeep SUV and move that about 10 feet.

The worker said Ameren will replace any needed wires, including service wires to the houses. A new street light is also being put on the pole.

Electrical service is expected to be restored by 3 p.m. Thursday.
