While some area fish fries may be called off due to the new coronavirus, Immaculate Conception Church in Maplewood never planned to have one this year.

A member said for this year, there was no one to take on the job. The church is planning a pancake breakfast on March 29, 9 a.m. – noon.

The fish fry at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Brentwood is on — the next one is scheduled for Friday, March 20.

  1. IC may not have had much of an attendance if they did have the fry.
Friday, a week before last (March 6) I went to the fish fry at Most Holy Trinity.
It was packed. Last week, March 13, only half the number.
    It’s the Corola Virus.

  2. my folks who were always very involved with their local church had a saying that I remember about people going to church. Their thought was that 90% of the work was done by about 10 or 20% of the congregation. That seemed so true in that you knew some folks never stepped up to help with the pancake dinner, the fish fry, take a turn in the nursery or painting a few of the classrooms. And then there were others who always seemed to be willing to put in the hours. Sounds like it still happpens today.
