The National Public Radio show, “We Live Here,” in an attempt to gain a better view of what it’s like to be a cop on the beat, sent KWMU reporter Stephanie Lecci to ride along with Maplewood police officer Erika Estes.
The reporter rode shotgun on Estes’ beat, “around and around and around.” She found out that what might look suspicious to an outsider, really isn’t to an officer who knows the neighborhood, and that police work’s biggest challenge just may be “combating boredom and maintaining vigilance.”
