Missouri American Water has contracted work in Maplewood, laying new water mains down several street and connecting the service lines. The company shared a schedule of the work, which some residents say isn’t right.
A resident on the 7400 block of Maple Avenue said in an email to 40 South: “As of noon yesterday, no concrete has been poured on Maple. Can we really trust their schedule.”

In an email to the water company he said: “I must also mentioned that on Maple Ave (not STREET) as of 10/24 there has been no concrete poured, Their schedule states that ‘Base concrete has been poured.’ Pictures I provided to you yesterday, clearly show that there has been no concrete poured!”
He continued: “While I cannot comment on the accuracy of their schedule for other streets, I would appreciate, that as a part of standard business practice you hold your contractor accountable for the statements they make as well as completion dates indicated in their response.”
Residents on other streets responded to a previous post.

This whole process has been an abortion since they started work in January. There was no shortage of money to the contractors. There were un-realistic deadlines set and too much of a hurry to get to the next area before finishing where they started.
Plus the company they contracted to do the work has been doing a poor job of re-seeding tree lawns on top of that. First the tree lawns were left muddy messes for weeks and then when they finally did seed the place the seed and the mud slide downhill and onto the sidewalk and into the street. I live a street with flat yards on one side and hilly ones on the other so the sidewalks on the hilly side are treacherous to even walk on rainy days like today. They have been haphazard in even putting netting on the hilly yards that they reseeded. Part of my street has the netting and the rest doesn’t.
On Lyndover there are holes in the tree lawn. So who is liable if someone is injured in a fall because of those?

Why isn’t the city manager addressing this issue with the water company?
You can’t trust anything they say. We had a main break last winter and there is STILL a hole in the tree lawn. Multiple calls have been made. The water company says it is scheduled….
