Richmond Heights City Council on Monday approved the development of a $21 million assisted living center on Bellevue Avenue, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The 78,450-square-foot facility, The Bellevue at St. Mary’s Senior Living, is to accommodate up to a total of 88 residents with three independent apartments, 64 assisted living apartments, and 21 memory care units. The council passed bills to approve a final development plan, consolidated lots and to rezone the area.
Councilman Edward Notter was the only “no” vote. He said the proposed rents are unaffordable to the area’s current residents. Rent would begin at $4,000 for a studio apartment at the center, the Post-Dispatch reports.
Councilman Reginald Finney proposed pursuing other developments or negotiating with developers to incorporate more affordable senior housing.
Construction could begin in the fall and take about a year to complete. Read the full article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
