The Maplewood City Council will consider resolutions on Tuesday to approve firms to work on a veterans memorial and one for fallen Maplewood firefighter Ryan Hummert.

The Maplewood architectural firm of Hellmuth and Bicknese was chosen out of five options to oversee the Veterans’ Memorial project.

DeLong Landscape Architectural and Wolfe Architects and Design will provide architectural services for the Ryan Hummert Memorial project.

City manager Marty Corcoran, fire chief Terry Merrell, fire captain Pete Marsac, and Andy and Jackie Hummert interviewed the firms.

The council will also consider a resolution to approve a St. Louis-area firm to cast a bronze statue of Ryan Hummert. Five firms were interested in the work and three were interviewed. The final recommendation came down to two qualified firms. Liberty Artworks won the recommendation with the lowest bid.

The city is also ready to begin the process of planning a new fire house. The council will consider a resolution to approve JEMA LLC for architectural and inspection services for the fire house. The city received 11 proposals and seven firms were interviewed.

Correction: This article previously stated that Hellmuth and Bicknese would oversee both the Veterans’ Memorial and the Ryan Hummert Memorial. Hellmuth and Bicknese is only providing services for the Veterans’ Memorial.
