As shoppers empty the shelves at the Maplewood Shop ‘n Save on Friday, word from an employee now is that the store will shut its doors for good at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 2.
Residents haven’t have much time to adjust. The Union Local 655 told its members the store would close just two weeks ago. Then, the word was that the store would close its doors on June 15.
If you’ve been waiting to go for a good price on your favorite item you might be too late.
There have been rumors but nothing official about what might move into the space. One of a group of Shop ‘n Save employees going into The Post for lunch on Friday said he couldn’t say, but he thought it would be a grocery, and that it would happen sooner rather than later.

Im going to miss SnS.
I WORKED FOR NATIONAL WHEN THEY CLOSED. THESE SHOP N SAVE CLOSINGS DO NOT SURPRISE ME. THE BOX STORES ARE TAKING AWAY THE CUSTIMERS FROM THE OTHER STORES. ( NOTE: UNION STORES WOULD NOT BE NEEDED IF THERE WASNT GREED ON BOTH SIDES) WELL THIS SHOULD BRING COMMENTS
I remember a bank on that corner when l was a kid. Across from Katz drugstore.
Me too and my grandparents lived on sutton right where the store is
THe rumors I heard during my shopping trip was Schunck’s was looking to move in. I hope theyt don’t close Brentwood if that is the case.
Wonder if Schnucks would open a smaller version of the regular stores, like something similar in size to the Schnucks store that was at Clayton Rd & Hanley.
It was nice to know you Kroger Store.
